A Digital Archive of East–West Textual Journeys

Manuscripts and books from Asia Reaching Europe

A semantically enhanced digital library mapping

The project seeks to trace and study texts that traveled from East to West, illuminating the cultural and intellectual exchanges through a comprehensive digital database. This research covers the period from the reopening of trade during the Tang dynasty (around 700 AD) to the peak of the Mongol Empire’s “Pax Sinica,” concluding in the 1700s with the continuators of the movement toward cultural and scientific exchange, spearheaded by what George Harold Dunne termed the “Generation of Giants.”
